Like I have said about the pathology. Perhaps its most obvious manifestation is in the new bike riding wars. Half narcissism half suicide compulsion its now spread beyond the cities. Now Im well aware that people have ridden bikes in the country since time immemorial. But back in the day the kids who rode bikes didnt feel they had just as much right to a dangerous road as other vehicles that have no choice but to traverse it.
And dig this. You know how they lecture cars and car sympathizers about their equal entitlement to City streets? Well they havent stopped there. They now feel that of the two lanes on a ten mile road they are entitled to one just for them. Which leaves one for the other two ways of traffic. Worse, country roads are populated with big shit like lumber trucks and big rigs who deliver to the only grocery store in say Fort Bragg, not to forget that one and a half lane mobile motel room thats being driven by Irving who just retired and never drove anything bigger than his college days VW van..
Admittedly, alot of moderate liberals like to take their mother to the museum. And maybe they have three kids and so they too have run up against the religion of bicycles inflicting itself on their interests and needs and so they also dont look at Critical Mass with a nod and a smile at the cute kids having fun. They too look at the incursion of bikes into daily life adn are now formerly wincing.
Today I had occasion to travel to what WishYWD refers to as Bumfuck. Not East Bumfuck where he lives but west bumfuck out towards Stinson Beach. I encounter growing numbers of complete idiots on impassable roads, barely a foot between precipice and road, swerving out into both oncoming and fast approaching traffic that cant see them. There is no bike lane. Just a winedy mountain road with barely enough room for cars let alone the occasional mobile home or Windrifter or whatever takes up one and a half lanes. The bikes and bike people are a certified menace. Im not kidding.
And this is new. Two years ago on the same road I didnt see a single bike. Today it was a mess. What it amounts to is they are taking over places they literally have no right to go on their bikes.There is no question whatsoever that at some point, or if the numbers are being suppressed by the bike sympathizers embedded in news rooms especially here, there are going to be deaths. And if I read how several bikers were killed by a vehicle. Be advised it probably want the vehicles fault. These people are that narcississtic and that stupid.
I thought about the fact that they feel entitled to inflict their annoyance upon say 15 cars because they are travelling three abreast. What if the cars "feel" like keeping their horns on fpor ten minutes right behind them. Think they just consider it another person entitled to annoy THEM? And this is the real rub. They look at annoyance as a one way street. The car at the front of the line right behind them (that literally had an Obama sticker)honked so they joined into five abreast and flipped the guy off. In other words the critcal mass pathology is now viral and invading the hinterlands.
