Oh, it would be so sweet if Phil Day went to the big house for misusing public funds. That's one guy I'd love to see in an orange jumpsuit. He probably
won't -the rich always strike some kind of plea deal where they get a slap on the wrist. Snatch a purse -you get 25-to-life, but steal thousands and you
get some bullshit sentence. But felony charges are a good start. This shows that those whiny progressives (Milton Marks, Julio Ramos, and John Rizzo),
constantly complaining about the cesspool of corruption at City College, with their pesky insistance on oversight and accountability, were right all along.
Now if only Kamala would dig a little deeper, I'm sure there's some complicity on the part of Lawrence "union buster" Wong, and that
disgusting troll Natalie Berg. We could start with making public the names of the politicians who benefitted from Day's slush fund.

well, that's how he pled this morning... just saw the footage and he sure LOOKS guilty (or worried about something else - had the look of ken lay, back
from the dead)... what i didn't like about the story was (i think i have this right) that the two administrators who are accused of conspiring with him are
on PAID administrative leave... this case could take awhile... if they are convicted of wrongdoing, will they have to give BACK the "administrative
leave" money?... not on your life... which is why it would make more sense to NOT pay them (let them take a "personal leave") and if they are
exonerated, THEN pay them...
the charges have to do with funneling money to bond measures... but i recall that i had questions about a deal city college made with sfusd while day was chancellor... sfusd had downtown high, which was run down (it serves kids who have dropped out and returned, pregnancies and the like)... city college wanted a new campus in the mission... the original deal was that city college would renovate the building, one section at a time, sfusd would pay nothing for repairs and then they would share the campus upon completion (with city college paying some millions for the right to share)... then the reconstruction began and there was dust (and probably asbestos) everywhere... so, city somehow made a new deal (and i believe this all went through phil smith at sfusd, a guy i have always thought was crooked, a guy who would never use a five cent word when he could use a five dollar word, you know the type, "pedantic" would be a compliment)... now downtown high would move out during construction and then move back... after they moved, yet another deal was made... now, downtown would stay where they had moved (the old isa site) and city college would get the site to itself ... they would lease the site for what i believe is 30 years, then turn it back to sfusd (you KNOW that's going to change)... they agreed to buy newcomer high for some figure (to use for another campus of sorts) and pay $7 million (don't quote me) for the lease of downtown high... then they backed out of buying newcomer, saying there was neighborhood opposition and they didn't want to be where they weren't wanted... i remember asking if that meant that the other part of the deal, the lease for city college, would be restructured... after all, when they thought they were selling a building they really didn't need for a good rate, they were happy to make a good deal happen for city college in the mission... but when city college backed out of newcomer, i thought the lease price at downtown high should have been increased... but it wasn't... and i wondered if phil smith hadn't become a little too chummy with his counterpart at city college... not suprised at all to hear that there was corruption on the other end... but remember, phil day says he's NOT GUILTY... |
