orientation to feel comfortable posting their opinion. To that end, the following rules have been established.
#1- No outing or hinting at outing.
#2- No personal attacks on other posters. It is ok to attack the content of their post, but not the poster as a person. i.e. - "that statement is
stupid" is ok (although juvenile) while "you're stupid" is not ok. This includes personal attacks directed at posters on The Wall.
Politicians, institutions and businesses are fair game.
#3- No posting of illegal materials, X-rated materials, spam, libel, etc.
#4- Observe the proper protocols for dealing with the moderator.
That's it.
Proper protocols:
If you have a problem with something that another person has posted and/or believe that they have violated one of the rules above - please report it by Yuku
Mail or email ( antfaber@yahoo.com ) to the moderator. Do not assume that any moderator has seen and/or noticed something that is offensive to you. Also, allow
some time for your complaint to be noticed. I will try to remember to bcc any mail I send about any issue to the complainant, but don't be surprised if I
forget. Also, I'm not online 24/7 and even if I were, Yuku's mail icons are harder to notice than ezBoard's were so it may take a while for me to
notice a new Yuku mail
If you do not have EZmail - enable it or provide an alternate means of contacting you. Otherwise we will be forced to communicate with you publicly.
DO NOT REPLY OR COMPLAIN IN THE THREAD.
We will investigate the matter and take the appropriate action.
-------------------------------
Disciplinary action:
Disciplinary action will be handled privately, by EZ Mail. If your inbox is disabled we may have to do it publicly. Regardless, I highly recommend that you
activate your EZ Mail inbox. Communications via EZ Mail are deemed "private" and will not be published (we assume that you will do the same). We want
the threads of this board to remain focused on SF politics, not on administrative functions of the board itself.
Outing: immediate suspension for one month. Permanent if done a second time.
Hinting at outing: immediate suspension for one week (first offense), one month (second offense), and permanent (third
offense).
Personal attacks: We will immediately edit offensive materials and keep a record of it in the
administration conference. We will warn the person the issued the personal attack and explain why it was inappropriate. If offenses are deemed minor, they will
continue to receive warnings. If they are deemed signifcant, they will result in a one day suspension (second offense), one week suspension (third offense),
one month (fourth), and permanent (fifth).
Violating rule #3 - Immediate permanent suspension.
Proper protocols: It is the moderator's job to deal with any perceived offenses on the board. The moderator is a dictator, much like a referee at
a basketball game and should be treated as such. Do not use threads to disagree with the moderator. If you have an issue with the moderator, send him an
ezmail. If you disagree with the moderator, please feel free to do so, but realize that all decisions made by the moderator are final.
Excessive complaining to the moderator over one of his calls may get you ejected from the game. Failure to take corrective action may also get you ejected (as
an example: the moderator asks you to stop posting disagreements with the moderator in the thread and you continue to do so).
If the moderator disagrees with you - it is not personal. Do not take it as such, and please do not respond to requests from the moderator with personal
attacks; this may also get you ejected, depending on severity of offense & poster's history. Basically, "proper protocols" means don't
give the moderator a tough time, I'm just a guy trying to encourage debate and keep things fair. Please, don't make my life miserable.
If anyone thinks that they can be fair & impartial enough to be a moderator here and wants to help out, get in touch via yuku mail and we'll talk.
edit: removed reference to the long defunct Free Fire Zone, clarified & expanded the part on how to complain to moderator, adding that you may not get
instant service, added the part about bccing complainants any emails I sent to resolve a complaint, and added personal attacks via private email as a no-no.
